Program Information

Huntington Family Centers’ Preschool program engages children from eighteen months to five years old in an exciting, high quality educational program, designed to meet their cognitive, social, emotional, and physical needs. The primary goal of HFC Preschool program is to promote school readiness and educational success by providing children and their families access to no cost, equitable early childhood opportunities.

The Six Essential Elements of a Quality Preschool Program

Facility

Huntington Family Centers’ (HFC) Preschool rooms and outdoor play yard are designed for safety and accessibility. Bright, cheerful classrooms are warm and inviting for children. Functionality and fun are built in to help the children enjoy their school experience.

Staff

The HFC Preschool Staff is experienced and dedicated to providing the best education possible.

Group Size

HFC Preschool classrooms offer nice low student to Teacher ratios. This gives our Teachers more individual quality time to spend with each child.

Curriculum and Instruction

HFC Preschool teachers ensure that the curriculum for each room is developmentally appropriate and interesting. The NYS Learning Standards guide teachers’ lesson plans and influence daily skill-building activities. These developing skills are the early building blocks for success in school and beyond.

Assessment

HFC Preschool teachers complete written assessments three times yearly. These assessments, completed in October, February and June, allow our teachers to adjust their plans to meet targeted goals for each child.

Family Involvement

HFC Preschool encourages family participation in all preschool events. Parents are invited to join their children on field trips, visit in the classroom and have daily interaction with Huntington Family Centers’ Preschool teachers.
